As the media regulator in Ireland, Coimisiún na Meán is responsible for developing and regulating a thriving, diverse, creative, safe and trusted media landscape. This means having a mix of different voices, opinions and sources of news in Irish media. 

It is also our job to check that broadcasters, video-on-demand providers and online platforms are following the rules and codes that are set for them.  

We play an important role in protecting your rights online. Thanks to the Online Safety Framework, there are now rules to make sure children and adults are protected from harmful or illegal content online.
