What services can I complain about?

Under the new law, services that provide access to audiovisual media services must aim to be accessible.

This could mean:

  • Subtitles, sign language, or audio descriptions
  • Interfaces that work with screen readers or voice commands
  • Clear and simple menus and instructions
  • Options for accessing information in multiple formats (like text, audio or visual)

These features are meant to ensure everyone has a fair chance to access and enjoy digital media services.

Services that will come into scope under Coimisiún na Meán’s remit include services providing access to audiovisual media services which may include:

  • Smart TV interfaces and set-top box software
  • Electronic programme guides (EPGs)
  • Online and mobile applications
  • TV and streaming platforms
  • Content aggregators
