New Media Skills & Development round opens

Business seminar

Coimisiún na Meán has today (13.10.2026) opened a new funding round of its Media Skills & Development Programme, to support training and development activities in the media sector across Ireland.

The Programme, launched last year, is seeking applications that support the aims of our Strategy Statement and foster a thriving, diverse, sustainable and participative media landscape.

Coimisiún na Meán Media Development Commissioner Rónán Ó Domhnaill said: “The ability to adapt, upskill and respond to a rapidly evolving media landscape remains vitally important, and helps to ensure that the sector continues to innovate, deliver for Irish audiences and reflect our society. We are therefore delighted to open a new round of this Programme and be able to facilitate training and development for representative media bodies and other eligible organisations. We look forward to receiving applications that, in line with the Programme Policy, maximise impact and encourage collaboration to enhance skills across media, including proposals that seek to support training within Irish language media.”

Activities previously funded under the Programme include training supporting diverse representation, digital and AI training for journalists, workshops for disabled journalists and advocates on accessibility and inclusion, and professional development opportunities for creative company leaders.

In a change from last year, applicants must register to submit applications via submit.com, and the closing date for applications is midday on 10 November 2026.
