Coimisiún na Meán recognises the importance of training, learning and upskilling for those working in media, and the value of engaging with the sector to understand and address specific needs.
As a regulator we do not deliver training ourselves, however we are committed to supporting such activities that align with our Strategy Statement and nurture creativity, innovation and sustainability in the media sector.
Media Skills and Development Programme
Our Media Skills and Development Programme, launched in October 2025, supports training, learning and development activities that advance the aims of our Strategy Statement to ensure a media landscape that is sustainable, pluralistic and participative, and that reflects and shapes who we are as society.
In line with our Media Skills and Development Programme Policy, we run funding rounds each year and offer successful applicants funding to deliver a variety of initiatives and activities to support their training and development needs.
Current funding rounds
We are currently accepting applications for Media Skills and Development funding for activities taking place in 2027.

Our Media Skills and Development Programme Policy facilitates the operation of dedicated strands, including a recent round to support the growth of fact-checking expertise in Ireland in line with the National Counter Disinformation Strategy (NCDS).
