Expressions of Interest for Expert Assessors
Coimisiún na Meán is seeking, on an ongoing basis, to engage suitably experienced candidates to act as Expert Assessors to assess grant applications for the Local Democracy Reporting Scheme (LDRS) and Courts Reporting Scheme (CRS), and for the upcoming Digital Transformation and News Reporting Schemes.
These Expert Assessors will supplement our current panel of Expert Assessors.
Panellists are required to have experience and expertise in any/some of the following:
- Print, television, radio and online journalism
- News and current affairs reporting
- Courts reporting
- Broad knowledge of the Irish courts and local democracy systems
Additionally, if interested in acting as an assessor for the Digital Transformation Scheme, panellists should ideally have experience or expertise in some or any of the following:
- Digital journalism
- Understanding of challenges and opportunities faced by public service media providers to reach/grow audiences.
- Familiarity with technologies used by media organisations such as AI, data analytics and Content Management Systems
Assessors will be required to:
- bring independent and objective scrutiny to the assessing of applications
- be prepared to be supportive of the delivery of the Schemes’ objectives
- be equipped to offer considered advice based on sound judgement and experience
- be prepared to make the appropriate time commitment
- act on an informed basis, in good faith, with due diligence and care, and treat all aspects of the process confidentially and professionally.
We are committed to facilitating a process whereby applications can be submitted and assessed in English or Irish. Therefore, candidates with the ability to conduct assessments and provide the necessary feedback and advice in the Irish language are particularly welcome to apply.
