Nominated bodies
As required by the Online Safety and Media Regulation (OSMR) Act 2022, we plan to introduce a scheme under which organisations are nominated by us for the purpose of notifying us of matters relevant to our online safety functions under the OSMR.
These matters include:
- Concerns arising from the manner in which a designated video-sharing platform service purports to comply with the online safety codes that apply to it;
- Concerns relating to the availability of harmful online content on a designated video-sharing platform service;
- Concerns relating to the availability of age-inappropriate online content on a designated video-sharing platform service;
- Measures taken by a designated video-sharing platform service in purported compliance with an online safety code that the nominated body considers excessive having regard to users’ freedom of expression or other rights, or for any other reason.
We have developed a Pilot Programme to establish a structured approach for receiving, reviewing and utilising information from CSOs, with a view to informing the development of the statutory Nominated Bodies Scheme.
